There are a few things that large companies seem to be able to lie about again and again (stock buy backs being one of them). This eventually leads to analysts ignoring their buy back announcements (which supports your post), but the company has to lie about this 2 or 3 times before analysts catch on. Janice Compton suggested I start pledging to send money to socialist groups if I don't do x,y,z; I remember reading about an alarm clock that will send money to a group you don't like every time you hit the snooze button.
